Seniors how I love thee. Truly these senior girls are fantastic, and this shoot did not disappoint. First off let me start by expressing my gratitude to this young woman for her patience. I have an insane allergy to grass. It really doesn’t matter what kind of grass is it but it does seem to be worse in the east than it was in the west. Anyway, our first stop was in a hay field, I know what your thinking, ought oh, and you would be right. I looked out across the meadow and it looked like it was on fire that’s how much pollen was being kicked into the air. I knew it was going to be bad and sure enough it was almost instantaneous. My eyes swelled, I started sneezing and coughing. It wasn’t pretty. Fortunately I was offered an allergy pill and some tissues and we continued on. If there is one thing I have learned in life the show must go on if at all possible. The session took us a while to wrap up because I had to give my eyes a break from time to time, but we got some fantastic pictures. So without further ado here is a very loaded post. Enjoy!

This sweet little family was blessed with a bit of a surprise late last year when they were told they would be welcoming not one but two little bundles into their lives. Their darling older brother has become quite protective of them, he will be sure to let you know they are ‘his brothers’. The sweet little darlings kept their folks up half the night before our shoot and refused to go to sleep for us during the shoot. Despite all that they were so fun to work with. Hopefully mom and dad have gotten a bit of rest.

First senior shoot of the year was awesome! I can’t say enough how much I love working with the seniors. They are adventurous, bubbly, ambitious and polite and this sweet young lady was no exception. So many great shots I couldn’t narrow it down.

Sweet Little Gifts — Shenandoah Valley, VA Photographer

Yesterday was Valentine’s Day. Many years ago I had an engagement that was ended on this day and it never really quite held the same enjoyment for me. Now that I have been married for 18 years to a wonderful man, it is only a day to continue showing each other how much we care and be reminded how grateful we are for each other.

A few days ago I gifted myself this fun little thing. It’s called Birchbox.

I am sure you have heard of it but it not, you so totally need to do this, if you like getting little samples of the latest and greatest perfume, make-up, sweets, lotions, etc. Mine happened to arrive on Valentine’s Day and it was a little bit like having a secret admirer. Relax honey, I sent it to myself, but none the less it was an unexpected surprise and oh so fun to rifle through. Each little thing in this box came individually wrapped up. It was like a box of little gifts to open. So fun.

Now time to go sample some new stuff.

They even recommended music from one of my favorite new music finds. They are called Green River Ordinance. They have some great songs, you should check them out.

Cowboy Nation? — Strasburg, VA — Photography

I spent some of my childhood on a ranch in Wyoming. A beautiful place to grow up in so many ways. Hard work for sure, but also very rewarding. I loved the cowboys. I was always so fascinated with them and the life they lead. I was probably making it far more romantic than it really was but there was just something mysterious about the men, young and old, who would help us from time to time. My favorite by far was our friend and horse whisperer Rusty Muir. I loved to watch him break our horses. It was enchanting. I no longer live in or near Wyoming and Rusty has returned home to greener pastures but I am still a sucker for a mysterious cowboy.
