Accidents and Fireworks

It was an interesting evening around here last night.  We were prepared to enjoy our town fireworks display at 9:30 (we had to postpone from the 4th due to weather). Unfortunately the show was delayed due to an accident on I-81. It seems someone drove their car off the road and into some trees.  We knew it wasn’t good when life flight responded to the scene on the freeway.  As the helicopter took off we thought we would be able to start the fireworks and get to bed. Instead we were informed that another life flight chopper was on it’s way to the hospital to pick up another victim. As we waited we said a silent prayer for the victims and their families and wondered if the show would again be postponed.  About 15 minutes later the helicopter showed up and after a brief touch-down at the hospital took off again. At this point is is 10:30 or so and I have sent my unwilling children to bed. Again we were informed we would have to wait for another life flight chopper to pick up a patient at the hospital.  Finally at about 11pm the show started.  There were many who gave up and went home… I would have been one of those if I didn’t live right where I could see the fireworks.  It was midnight before it was all said and done and I was in bed. It was however a great display of lights and smoke.

1 helicopter, 2 ambulances, 3 firetrucks and numerous police cars 🙁
